Mitch Mitchell RIP

Mitch Mitchell, the superb drummer with the Jimi Hendrix Experience, died whilst on tour in the US yesterday. Very sad.

I hope some of you know who he was but if you don't just listen to his drumming on albums like Axis: Bold as Love or Electric Ladyland.

Bassist Noel Redding died a few years ago and obviously Jimi rather famously choked on the remains of his tuna sarnie in 1970, so Mitchell was the last remaining member of the band.

So give something like 'Fire' or 'Crosstown Trafic' a play today and listen to his wonderful stick action. (or 'Dolly Dagger' of course

This is sad news. Hendrix was such a hugely charismatic frontman that Mitchell and Redding often get overlooked despite their superb musicianship.

Anyone who can keep time with Hendrix is worth his salt.

Sad to see them all gone now.
