There was a similar story about a baby in a morgue.

Never happens with cats though.

If you're referring to the eyeball gouged woman jokes, yes, they are quite tasteless but...

How many times do you hear a story about a woman in an abusive relationship who refuses to leave her violent partner? Why do women keep doing this kind of shit over and over again? How thick are they to stay with violent men?

In an ideal world, a man would never hit a woman, but in an ideal world, a woman wouldn't seek out this kind of man in the first place or would leave at the first sign of trouble.

Using the excuse of love won't wash either, lots of people love their partners but still lie to, cheat on and manipulate them during a relationship. Top tip ladies: if a man is holding you down and punching you in the face, he does not love you.

As there is very little the law can do about the situation, it falls upon us as a society to make staying in an abusive relationship socially unacceptable. But by issuing sympathy rather then mockery, you are giving the green light that this is acceptable behaviour.

I would like to hear other's thoughts on this contentious matter.

I also get frustrated with people who stay with violent partners (whatever their gender). I think it's unlikely that all people who do this are thick and I'm sure it's usually to do with how they were treated as a child/the sort of abusive adults they were surrounded by/what they think they're worth, etc, etc. But also I sometimes can't help but be judgemental, like you, and assume people like this woman have no sense or ability to learn from experience.

BUT I would say the violence is still 100% his fault. And he needs to be put away forever. I don't buy any kind of 'she asked for it or deserved it by staying with him' defence.

The violence is his fault

Tolerating the violence is hers.

Everything is a potential subject for comedy.

Sympathy is probably more appropriate than mockery; it seems all the girls love a bad boy, and sometimes they suffer consequences that they should perhaps have foreseen, but all but the most insanely deluded or psychologically damaged would have walked away from a relationship such as this. Some women just stumble from one abusive relationship to the next, and it can really only be attributable to early conditioning at hands of male bastards that has shaped their perception of themselves and what they expect and need from a relationship. Self-determination has its limitations: once you have been wired up in a certain way it is difficult to escape that.

Can we get back to doing shit puns now?

I totally agree with you that if you gouge someone's eyes out, then you should feel the full weight of the law.

It's like that guy who loved tigers, he loved them so much, he threw himself into the tiger enclosure at the zoo and had his arm bitten off. It was 100% entirely the fault of the tigers that he was injured. But did they put those animals down? Did they hell.

;)

Not me. I don't understand that whole 'women love a bastard' thing. Doesn't ring true for me at all.

We all know Aaron treats you mean.

Obviously a joke, yes very good. But if you see even a grain of truth in that you're worryingly thick...
