I read the news today oh boy! Page 757

It's been trending on Twitter all day.

Kind of hilarious at first, then embarrassing and a bit painful. The silly bugger.

I've been loving the 'Chuck Norris' style quotes that have been coming up on Twitter surrounding Samantha Brick.

Such as -

James Blunt wrote "You're beautiful" after he briefly caught sight of Samantha Brick in a crowded place.

and

Is someone going to help the pandas out by putting a picture of Samantha Brick in the enclosure?

That's a rather average-looking woman with a supersized ego.

Surpised no one has picked up on this story -

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2124246/Samantha-Brick-downsides-looking-pretty-Why-women-hate-beautiful.html

and the inevitable reaction -

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/brendanoneill2/100148998/the-twitterstorm-against-samantha-brick-is-infinitely-uglier-and-nastier-than-the-article-she-wrote/

For those too unbothered to have a read. Some tart said she was the dogs bollox in the looks department - strange men fawn over her and other women hate her for being so beautiful.

I will let you decide.

How incredibly depressing both articles are. Reading between the lines, she sort of has a point though; everyone is so subjugated to ideals that a lot of otherwise pleasant and intelligent people panic and lash out at someone secure in themselves regardless of how good-looking they are (not that there is an objective scale).

I was just on the NHS, I repeat, NHS, website checking my BMI and everything is linked to obesity. No wonder so many women stray to pro-ana sites, when they may have been just looking for information or in a position to be helped.

Yep. But she'll read all the comments, and be convinced everyone's just jealous! As long as she's happy though, I suppose.

On the same page there's a photo of a woman with her face severely scarred by acid. Let's hope there aren't any readers out there who are that jealous or annoyed.

Ha. Highly doubt it.

I read a lot of the Twitter comments and the ones I saw weren't saying she was ugly or evil or anything, just deluded. Which she probably is.

At first I thought the Daily Mail had completely stitched her up, but she's not just some member of the public, she's a journalist who's written loads of articles for them in the past (all equally stupid) so to be fair, she knew exactly what she was doing and knew, or should have known the reaction she would get.

It's all very odd indeed.

My between the line reading is slightly different to yours. I have no idea how this woman acts in company and why she causes such strong reactions in people.

She might go up to her girlfriends husbands and be overly flirty shoving her boobies into them and whatnot. When her female friends react angrily, she writes it off as jealousy.

She might talk for hours and hours about how great and beautiful she is to the point that her female friends can't take another word.

She might walk around with her minge out - hence the free gifts.

She might even be so egotistical, that she writes an article for a national newspaper in which she expects sympathy after declaring her life has been ruined by being so gosh darn attractive.

Who knows?

True, these things may occur. Some more than others. I can't say I've taken to someone who has written an article about how great they are and how horrid everyone else is, but looking at some pro-ana sites (got curious after being angry at NHS site), it's rather pleasant reading about someone who is secure, even if they are a bit of a twonk

This isn't worrying in the least.

:O :O :O

Come on, you know what you chicks are like, you think because something is written down, it must be true. And before you accuse me of being sexist, anyone who writes positively about anorexia isn't male...or if they are, then they're queers who were abused as children.

EDIT: What I'm trying to say is please stay away from these websites in case they put an evil brainworm in your head.

Only nosy, don't worry. Maybe I didn't make it clear enough in my previous post that I was fuming with the NHS website for having ZERO links from the BMI section for people who may be underweight or experiencing/prone to eating disorders. When I was growing up (a long while ago admittedly) seemed like there was loads of information and support in magazines, on telly, etc, about that subject. Now I suppose obesity is such a 'big' problem that anyone else is, if not encouraged, then ignored? Just terribly sad to see things like this (which not even I am whiney or insecure enough to think is a good look)
