That is true to an extent but I think we're more stratified by income than race.
Gangs and street-level drug dealers account for a lot of our murders. There is an epidemic of gun violence among young African-American males that I wish people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would concentrate on before they make such a big deal about relatively rare not-quite-white-on-black killings. And I don't say that because I'm a racist, I say that because I'm a parent and I wish so many African-American parents didn't have to bury their sons.
As for guns, they're fun to shoot and I like having one handy in case I find myself in danger but hopefully I'll never have to point one at another human being. Other than that, they're just lumps of metal and wood and plastic that I don't think about all that much.
Who needs a gun when you have a 60's stainless steel tail comb in your bag! ( one of these days I'll be arrested)
Except DaButt your figures count "homicides" eg deaths that weren't self defence etc. So if one thinks your courts aren't fair then the figures may not be so illuminating.

Homicide refers to the act of a human killing another human. It doesn't matter whether it was self-defence or not. The facts remain this: African_Americans die at the hands of another person (usually an African-American himself) at a rate many times greater than other races. It's tragic.
So ole Crayon counts as a homicide?
