I'm perfectly content with African-Americans who own/carry guns within the confines of the law. I'm not at all happy about the gang members and criminals who carry guns while they commit crimes and murder each other.
Legal guns carried/owned by law-abiding citizens = good.
Guns carried illegally by criminals = bad.

Thing is stab proof and bullet resistant vests aren't the same. And combination ones are quite bulky and heavy.
