And in Australia they have the Meter Maids.

More like the Kuwait of Europe. Not culturally of course but a large oil economy with a very small population.
That doesn't sound quite so attractive.

Only in one city: the coastal resort of Surfers Paradise. And unlike meter maids elsewhere, the Australian ones are sponsored by local businesses - and they strut around in gold bikinis (no joke) and put coins into meters that have expired, to save drivers from getting fined by local council parking inspectors. Whenever the meter maids save a car from a fine, they pop a sponsor's calling (advertising) card under the windscreen wiper. But I was in Surfers Paradise last week and didn't see a single meter maid, possibly because most traditional individual parking meters have been replaced with machines that dispense printed tickets. Or perhaps the maids don't work in winter, although it wasn't unseasonably cold last week.
Advertising card?!!! Hmmm!
Australia is weird.
Oops, seems that with the new meters, the meter maids no longer feed in coins but just sashay about and tell motorists to pay up. Weak.
Councillor Greg Betts stressed the meter maids would not be 'feeding the meters' but would be simply involved in public relations... to help residents and tourists with the operation of the new meters and provide information on why they are necessary and what they will achieve.
Amy Winehouse was about to adopt? Very odd story..
