WYP's website states: "We are currently accepting applications for the two police constable entry programmes (uniform and detective) from people from our under-represented groups... If you are not from one of these groups, please keep checking this page for future recruitment opportunities. Recruitment for those people not from an under-represented group will open periodically throughout the year, depending on applicant numbers."

From their own website. Maybe a bit of back-tracking going on

Both quotes say the same thing in different ways.
They open applications early to under-represented groups to make sure they get as many applicants from these groups as possible, as they are trying to make the local police force reflect the local community - hugely important in making people feel the police are there for them.
At interview stage applicants are judged on their merits.
The process just increases the chances of getting a decent number of police from under-represented groups at the end of the process.

"Government looking to take control of British Steel plant"

He's only making plans for Nigel...

You beat me to it.

You keep falling for it don't you, SG?
This from West Yorkshire Police.

You may have seen some articles in the national media today (Thursday, 10 April), suggesting that West Yorkshire Police is blocking or even rejecting white British applicants in our recruitment process.
Positive Action allows people from under-represented groups who express an interest in joining the force to complete an application, which is then held on file until a recruitment window is opened. No interviews are held until the window is officially opened to all candidates. Enabling people from under-represented groups to apply early does not give them an advantage in the application process, it simply provides us with more opportunity to attract talent from this pool of applicants.
West Yorkshire Police has contacted media outlets this afternoon to advise of the inaccuracies within their reports and has respectfully asked for these to be amended as soon as possible.

A word to the wise.
A few minutes research could save hours of embarrassment.

I think they have to be careful who they recruit these days. After watching Protection and Line of Duty I bet any criminal think it's easy to get in.

Or this press release could just be a load of spiel. The Police basically do what they want then say what they want to defend their actions all the time.

And they've now turned into the official Wokeness Enforcement Force, with yet another over zealous arrest, this time of a 50 year old history teacher for allegedly stealing two ipads she confiscated from her own children. She was handcuffed, had DNA and fingerprints taken and held in a cell for 8 hours for a complete non crime she didn't even get an apology for.

Starmer's Stazi strike again! Forget all the shoplifting, muggings and burglaries, that's not important enough for them, but if you dare say or do anything illiberal there'll half a dozen panda cars outside your house in a jiffy.

Extremely overzealous, but it seems that her ex husband wasted police time in reporting her for stealing them in the first place. They had to investigate, but should have seen it was nothing.

I know what it says and means, I don't need 'leftsplaing.
Your pomposity gets ahead of you in your rush to challenge.
It might not say 'no whites but it bloody means it.

Well, it sounds like you don't know what it says.
But are certain what you want it say.
The "Downtrodden White Man" trope is tiresome at best - dangerous at worst.

Utter bollocks. 'The downtrodden whiteman

The iniquity can be pointed out without all the innuendo..

Whichever way you look at it, even by their own admission, they're treating certain groups differently. So, yes, discrimination. No getting away from it.

And when she was questioned about them she lied to the police and refused to co-operate

Personally if I was questioned by the police about something I would be as helpful and honest as possible if was completely innocent

She was trying to be clever and just ended up wasting her own time and police resources

She got treated like a criminal, because she behaved like a criminal

She's a teacher and she refused to co-operate when questioned by the police - great example to her students

At certain stages of the process , absolutely they are.
In order to produce a more effective police force - which is their job.

Why would it produce a "more effective" police force? No-one has suggested that it will do that Not even Yorkshire Police You've put your own slant on it just to support your argument.

We have all this nonsense about "umconcious bias". This is patently concious bias. Even you've admitted that.

A police-force that reflects the community it serves is more effective.
Whilst you may not agree with it, you're wrong to say that no-one has suggested it, or that Yorkshire Police do not believe it.
"The more our police officers represent the communities we serve, the more we understand their needs and concerns and the better we work together to make communities safer and stronger." That's from the Police's website.
"We believe that having a more diverse workforce, with different experiences and perspectives, enables us to become more effective in preventing and reducing crime, keeping people safe, caring for victims, and developing a more inclusive workplace culture." That's fromYorkshire Police's website.

Your tangents are poor, angling away from my original point.
They don't want white people.
We all understand that ethnic policing is probably a good idea but it's the police.
Imagine if they wrote 'whites only.

I did start watching the recalled Parliament caper but they spent that f**king long patting each other on the back for racking up on a Saturday, I turned over. At one point the Speaker was near moved to tears following the praise he was receiving for opening up half an hour early to put the radiators on full blast.
