I read the news today oh boy! Page 2,880

Trump is about to pardon dozens of violent criminals who tried to overthrow the American government on Jan 6th and let them out of jail - portraying them all as heroes

I know which is 100% more scandalous

Imagine being a law enforcer on that day - how you were brutally assaulted by crazed lunatics - then the President just lets them all off

Trump will also pardon himself for his role in that insurrection

Ah mr 2 wrongs = a right speaks again.

Personally I don't think any presidents should have pardon power. It's ridiculous that in a modern democracy they give a leader the power of emperors or kings.

Another reason why America is a bit backwards.

Baldy has apologised for saying yesterday that silly women should shut up and put up with his creepiness

Yes, imagine a head of government letting dangerous criminals out of gaol and back on to the streets.

yes I think it's utterly criminal that the Conservative government ran down prison service to such an extent they were warned they were in danger of acting illegally...

"Rishi Sunak 'risked breaching legal responsibilities

Rishi Sunak was warned by senior civil servants a week before he called the election that he was at risk of breaching his legal responsibilities if he failed to take action over the prison overcrowding crisis, a leaked document reveals.

"The advice, sent to the former prime minister on 15 May, said that failing to make an urgent decision on prison capacity would mean the criminal justice system in England and Wales reaching the point of "critical failure".

The Cabinet Office memo, seen by the Guardian, warned that the administration of justice would become "untenable" to the point that the police and judiciary would no longer be able to exercise their legal duties.

Senior civil servants felt that the prisons overcrowding crisis was so severe over the following weeks that the cabinet secretary, Simon Case, chaired emergency Cobra meetings himself on how to respond."

Not surprising obviously - they f**ked everything else in this country, why should our prisons be any different?

I agree, really. I can't think of any examples of a pardon being given which I really approve of.
On the other hand, would Hunter have been treated fairly by the legal system under a Trump administration? I doubt it.

There's Julian Assange. He leaked videos of American helicopter soldiers in Baghdad wasting innocent civilians.

Oh hell yeah 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 🤤

The new Covid corruption commissioner has started an investigation into personal protective equipment (PPE) fraud.

Tom Hayhoe's first task will be reviewing the £8.7bn of PPE bought during the pandemic that then had to be written off the government's books.

Mr Hayhoe is also likely to review the previous government's abandoning of attempts to reclaim money from deals worth £674m.

The National Crime Agency is separately investigating possible criminal offences committed in the PPE procurement system.

He tried to fly them out of the country but ignorant do-gooders stopped that.

Not sure even the heartless Tories ever suggested flying prisoners out to Africa,

"Rishi Sunak's government released more than 10,000 prisoners up to 70 days early, figures reveal, as the new justice secretary prepares to announce further emergency measures to ease another overcrowding crisis in jails.

Ministry of Justice figures show that 10,083 prisoners were allowed to walk free under the end of custody supervised licence (ECSL) scheme between October 2023 and June 2024 in England and Wales."
