Happy birthday Leslie Phillips.

98 today.

You mean this Leslie Phillips who was 98 three days ago?

Got to love that 'sense prevails' means vote and think like I do.

Maybe you should also join this site 'Le guide de la comédie britannique' and influence a few frogs. :D

True.
I should have said "Let's hope Fascism loses".
I can't imagine anyone disagreeing with that.
Except, possibly - well, you know...

Morning. ?

I kind of like that if the BCG had been around in 1939 at least half the forum members would be pro-Hitler with his common sense anti-woke policies.

A shame for the French though if they've got to endure another five years of Macron. And indeed for the British as he clearly doesn't like us.

Napoleon reborn. Ghastly ego of a man. The frogs will regret it. I envisage strikes everywhere and a possible war in the Channel.

Yes, because everybody who's not to the left of Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnel is obviously a sympathiser of Adolph Hitler and supporter of his policies. Never mind the vast chasm in between.

And just look at the great success Macron and the other current left of centre leaders have made of Europe and the world.

Maybe it's no coincidence that the safest, and least confrontational, period in post-war politics was when we had a right of centre Prime Minister, a right of centre US President and a less dogmatically communist Soviet leader than had previously been seen. Now we're back with left of centre European leaders, a left of centre US leader and a Russian leader hankering after the days of the old style communist Soviet Union. I leave you to consider how well that's working out for the world.

Yes that one.

Just as I said.

Now who's making idiotic generalisations.
I myself am well to the right of Jeremy Corbin, yet do nor want a fascist in power in our closest neighbour.

Exactly. My point exactly.

Apologies.
Missed the initial sarcasm there.
My initial point was that everyone, except those on the extreme right should be hoping Le Pen loses.
Mentioning Hitler is always pointless - there will never be another Hitler.
There could well be another Orban, though.

I'm sure there are many in France who don't think that. She's offering a reform of immigration policy, a proposed reform of the EU, is not wanting a very unpopular extension of the pension age that Macron is, and is far more pro union-pro worker than Macron.

France also has a reputation for wild swings from left to right and back again in elections so I'm half expecting a Le Pen victory, not as much as I was a year ago, now this Putin funding thing's been exposed by her enemies, but Macron is appearing too smug and that alone could topple him.

Not to mention, we know how accurate polls are.

I think you'll find that 98% of the population was anti-woke in 1939.
