Lol lol. No costings but you are spouting figures.
And how much supposition can you fit into one post?
I read the news today oh boy! Page 2,380
So you think we should proceed without knowing the costings, Stephen?
You've still another post to answer, hold yer 'osses
During a debate on the Lords amendments to the Nationality and Borders Bill, Tory ex-minister Andrew Mitchell warned: 'We know that it would be incredibly expensive.
'Judged by the cost of Australian offshoring, the British taxpayer would face unprecedented costs per asylum seeker.
He also compared it with the Australian offshore scheme, which is said to cost up to £1.7m for each asylum seeker.
I extrapolated from a known figure using a downward trend to prevent calls of bias. I could have easily gone higher after all I got the info from a former Tory Minister and he seems to think it would be cheaper to keep them in the Ritz.
Stephen, could you tell me if they will be using the RAF to take them to Rwanda? I only ask as military aircraft need permission to fly over countries and as they will be filled with handcuffed prisoners, there may be a problems along the countries in the flight path? Or do you think that we've already done that deal as well?
Or will it be a commercial flight? If it is then I'm sure they know that there are no direct flights to Rwanda from the UK ? So I'm suspecting that if they are going commercial then they've struck a deal with yet another country so that Easy Jet staff can lead our prisoners through the third countries airport in handcuffs.
Or will we send police officers which would be strange given that despite some people writing to Santa ,being an asylum seeker still remains legal . So as no criminal offence has been committed and the person can not be bound if they are not subject to an international arrest warrant ?
As you say mate this could be the best plan in the world I'm not knocking it . I'm just interested in how its going to work and when the PM gets back from India. He and his minister can flesh the whole thing out including costings and permissions and Parliament can vote on it.
However seeing that the PM is due to be exposed with a bottle in his hand starting the party he never knew he was at. I suspect that they will try to Trump the Rwanda malarkey by opening a fracking site outside a mosque .

Oh, that's simple.
Take our fair share of refugees (per head of population, we're 18th in Europe when it comes to receiving asylum seekers, so hardly leaders in the field)
Don't send them to Rwanda, who have enough problems of their own.
Don't punish the victims - work jointly with the French police to get to the gangs (harder now we're out of the EU, but hey-ho) - it won't be a deterrent to someone willing to risk their life crossing The Channel on a Li-Lo.
Make it possible for people to legally apply for asylum in the UK from France (eminently do-able) - the French are understandably all for it.
There used to a be a thing called the Dublin Agreement - but that was when we were in the EU, so we can't use that.
(It meant that you could apply for asylum seekers to be sent back to their country of crossing, plus some other criteria for settlement - the idea being to share the burden more equally).)
Now, of course, once they're out of French waters they're not the EU's problem.
But we brought that on ourselves.
But mainly, have a heart - show compassion for what these people have been through.
Umm wasn't one of the points of Brexit that it would finally put a stop to masses of illegal immigrants coming into the country?
Anyway it makes me laugh that when there's an election coming up the tories always say that labour will just spend and borrow spend and borrow and bankrupt the country?
Yet they are quite happy to piss away billions of tax payers money on stupid f**king schemes like this

I'm not sure that anyone could have expected Brexit to stop illegal immigration. The very fact that it's illegal means that one cannot legislate to stop it.
Haven't the Tories been in charge of immigration policy for over a decade now? You think they'd be on top of it now.
Brexit was supposed let us "take back control" of the UK's borders
If we've took control again - why all this Rwanda horse shit?
Or, is that it's just another Brexit promise that was total bollocks?
Not Brexit to blame again...surely not. Didn't all us dummies make a great mistake that day?
But keep reminding us that you were right all along, no matter what the subject, and it might eventually sink in.
Remember, we are all a bit slow, we must be, so keep on plugging away. It's a valiant cause.
Quote: Stephen Goodlad @ 19th April 2022, 7:41 AMNot Brexit to blame again...surely not.
Of course Brexit isn't to blame.
We've always had control of our borders.
What's to blame is war and terrible poverty.
How we react to it is up to us.
Always has been.
The fact that Brexit is making it slightly more problematic on a couple of technical grounds is neither here nor there.
The main thing is, do you reach out the hand of friendship to refugees, or do you use them as red-meat to rile-up an unpleasant minority who's vote you have previously relied on - when you no longer have Brexit to wave in their faces.
The Rwanda thing is unlikely to get off the ground due to unfeasibility (that's why Priti Patel had to issue a 'ministerial direction; because the head civil servant at the Home Office wouldn't sign off on the spending plan - because it didn't add up).
It will also get held up in the courts - leading to the inevitable "Leftie Lawyers Ate My Hamster" headlines in all the usual rags.

Sadly, it works. It's a cynical and obvious ploy but it gets results.

Surely sending illegal immigrants away is "Taking Control of the Borders"; it is an attempts to discourage illegal immigrants from wanting to come to the UK and thereby removing the 'customers' of illegal migration 'gangs' & thereby saving many such immigrants from death by drowning. Also I doubt that Rwanda nowadays is a seething mass of painted tribesmen wearing wooden masks, and loincloths and wielding hardwood spears.
Also various persons on this forum have been implying that the Rwanda situation relates to refugees from the War in Ukraine, but the government have never (AFAIAA) said that it would apply to such war refugees, The Ukrainians seeking shelter in the UK are awaiting Visas etc not clambering aboard over-loaded rubber boats for dangerous crossings.
Personally, i would suggest that the illegal immigrants should be sent to Scotland (where they need an increase in population) or Northern Ireland, where the current population could do with reminders that the rest of the world has far worse problems than two almost identical religions being intolerant of each other.
So instead of just bleating here, Mr Loftyhouse, what is your suggestion for dealing with the people-smugglers situation.
If I was dealing with the people smugglers I would infiltrate them like any other form of organized crime and ensure that they had to deal with the fact that every launch they planned could be a trap.
Once caught I would ensure that whatever court they faced had enough evidence to jail them for 20 years . Once they know they can get 20 years the price for the passengers would reach a point were whoever can afford it would be welcome anyway as they are clearly big spenders.
Rwanda on the other hand is a political stunt to save a proven liar. The entire plan is logistically impossible or would require a time frame of five years to set up including reaching international accords in relation to fight paths for planes carrying humans in bondage etc.
That's before the astronomical costs are taken into account? No doubt there would be another rise in the NI to cater for that as it will cost as much the NHS in the end. And should just one deported migrant turn back up in a dinghy, the entire system would have to fold.
No one wants these people smugglers least of all me, as they trade in flesh. But all this does is fill the boats with women and kids as they can't go to Rwanda and as such are guaranteed asylum so it's actually a selling point . This entire Rwanda BS is akin to sending pot smokers like me to Zanzibar in order to hurt the local dealers, it makes no sense.
Plus its not even aimed at the Smuggling Gangs its aimed the their cargo. The whole caper is to hide the lies the PM told about what he was doing while others watched their loved ones die through a window, if they were lucky.
I think you've just had a massive toke before posting sometimes..
