The invasion riled a lot of people. The toppling of Sadam's evil regime and its law and order apparatus, as well as animosity toward the invaders, prompted many to take the law into their own hands.
That explains the Iraqi-on-coalition violence and I can completely understand attacks against an invading army. But Iraqi-on-Iraqi violence, Muslim-on-Muslim violence and attacks on the infrastructure of the nation fall outside of the realm of normalcy and decency and the blame for them lies squarely on the shoulders of militant Islamists, Syria, Iran and the remains of Saddam's Baath party.
