I read the news today oh boy! Page 1,496

I can't see anywhere in the first article that suggests Dennehy was mad - the author's explanation is disassociation from mainstream society. The second author is complaining about the "sexing up" of Dennehy's crimes. She speculatively suggests there may be underlying mental health issues but there is no real evidence for this.

I'm using these articles to paint a bigger picture - with my broad brush strokes of generalisation. These columnists would never write anything even vaguely sympathetic concerning Levi Bellfield, and neither should they, but because it's one of their own, they feel the need to defend her actions.

There are two things wrong with society - men think they're brilliant, women think they're blameless. If you're a bloke, you inevitably do stupid things even though you think you are being smart. And if you're a woman, any actions or responsibilities can be shrugged off and the blame placed on others due to a false narrative of perpetual victimhood.

Though it's a very trite observation and a very poor analogy, I remember reading the Agony Aunt columns in the newspaper when I was younger. Whatever happened within a relationship was always blamed on the male partner. 'My husband has gone off sex' or 'My husband is cheating on me' were always met with fire and brimstone, whereas 'My wife has gone off sex or is cheating on me' was the fault of the man for not paying enough attention to his wife or meeting her needs.

I don't even want to get into the sexualisation of killers, because Death Row in America is like frikkin' Match.com with all the fan mail they receive, relationships created and even marriages conducted behind bars.

Plus, if a male serial killer has a treatable mental illness, then we treat them for it. We don't say "oh, they are a man, therefore they are a monster and we shall not treat them". We say, "off you go to Broadmoor Mr Sutcliffe."

And that's where he is right now, if he'd stayed in Parkhurst, his original destination, he'd be out today.

Er, sorry?

At an inquest opening at Smethwick Coroner's Court this morning, coroner's investigator Bonita Poole said the toddler was being looked after by his grandmother when she noticed he had gone missing.

F**kin' words f**kin' fail me they really do!

WTF is going on in these peoples minds?

Princess Ann is obviously as well endowed with tact and intelligence as her faither. Why do these parasitical arseholes think we should hang on their every word? Might be good if they got some experience of living in the real world.

'Comedian' Dominic Holland defended the mooted £10 a month NHS charge on the Wright Stuff. (I know. But Kirsty cheers me up. A 'lovely bubbly presence' as John Shuttleworth's agent might say.) Holland is a twitter buddy of snobby Libertarian toad James Delingpole.

Should Holland be:
a Gassed like a badger?
b Retrained as a circus dwarf or jockey or given a paper round or anything that will keep him off The Wright Stuff?
c Put in a cell with Joanna Dennehy as her strap-on bitch?

Oldrocker, when you heard that Mrs Miller was to be dismissed, did you confuse her with your old pin-up?

Well assuming one needs a head of state who would you choose.

I think I'm an accidental royalist.

If we had an elected head of state, it would be some disreputable, jerry mandered disaster of an election.

Anything else and we'd be left with some awful, politically correct hand wringing compromise. 365 people from every community being queen for a day and wearing a crown made by sex offenders art classes.

We can't recreate pomp anymore and it does serve a purpose.

But I doubt the royal family will outlive Liz, being as Charles really is an idiot.

Oh and Alex Salmond seems to want to keep 3 things; the poond, the royals and Greggs the bakers.

So you can't even vote them out.

I maybe the only person on these forums to think this is a big step in the right direction.

The NHS has proven it's self not to be able to manage it's own finances. And when it haemorrages money from fraud, saves money by cutting back on it's fraud protection teams.

We need to stop being so scared of a little charging. How about NHS clinics offering GP appointment at work friendly times, 7-8am and 17.00-20.00 and charging a subsidised fee of maybe a fiver or a tenner.

It would take the pressure off the rest of the day, leave plenty of time for appointments if you're not in work, bring in money and be cheaper for patients then going fully private.

She should lock herself in her range rover and gas herself with from her exhaust

Do us all a favour

Lofty, I do believe you are my long lost son!

Hoots mon!

One thing I really dislike is the Commonwealth.

The Queen has refused to share any positive statements about gays, or criticise any vicious dictatorship.
Because she gets to go to her little pretend empire a couple of times a year and have some big, foreign types wave their bare bums at her.
And they like homophobia, torture and corruption.

Shame on Scotland for hosting the Commonwealth games, they're even more amoral than the Olympics.
Is this what we can expect from an independent Scotland's ethical foreign policy?

What did the owl say to Bob Marley

Hoots mon!

Owl be back.

Thanks for indulging my OTT rant and offering a reasoned reply, SootyJ. I'm off to a meeting of Rageaholics Anonymous where my sponsor will attempt to convince me to accept that which I cannot change.

I like any Dad who's proud of his son, as Holland is, but I find him otherwise charisma and chuckle-free. Other opinions are available.

Holland?

I will show the same interest in the Commonwealth Games as I did in the Olympics - none. By the way, some clowns on the Council in Glasgow have devised a great spectacle for the opening - blowing up (simultaneously) 5 multi-storey blocks (the famous/infamous Red Road Flats). It won't be the first time that someone has died near the scene of such a demolition - and that was ONE block. I shudder to think what might happen. And this, they believe, will be entertainment.

There is a Facebook page where people can upload secretly taken pictures of women eating food on the Tube. Yep, ladies eating crisps in public has 14,000 group members.

Taking pictures of people on the Tube isn't illegal, so the question is - should taking pictures of people without their permission in public places be against the law?
