I've been watching too many shows about bearded men in Alaska yelling at each other on the Discovery Channel and have lost touch with my feminine side.

A plot has been unearthed to turn state schools into Muslim faith schools. Starting with Birmingham and then spreading to Bradford. The main thrust of the operation was to encourage Muslim parents to oust current head teachers and get them replaced with more Islamic friendly administrators.
It states that parents could be encouraged to turn against the leadership team if they are told the school is "corrupting their children with sex education, teaching about homosexuals, making their children pray Christian prayers and [carrying out] mixed swimming and sport".
The article mentions 'The Department for Education's (DfE) Extremist Unit' - this is wear on I put on my confused old person flat cap and splutter Bovril all over the keyboard - The Department for Education has an Extremist Unit?!!!

Shock horror 4 schools have grumpy governors who want to oust the headteacher.
That's been going on for years, except this time they want more Islamic values, as opposed to ousting pinkos, selling off playing fields or forcing girls to wear miniskirts.
Good to see the Doe is on it. Though the desire for some parents to have a shitty, corrupt school, with poor quality staff. So long as it's Islamic.
Is further evidence for me that faith schools have had their day and it's about time we started removing religion from our public life.

I both agree and disagree with this sentiment. The only saving grace of the faith schools is that they don't adopt every new educational fad that comes out of some hippy's stoned out brainbox. As a result, the basic education of reading, writing, maths, etc. is always pretty good, along with discipline and pupil behaviour.
Many of them have been around for decades and have always harboured desires to be grammar schools, this has made them more desirable and the quality of pupils they receive are generally higher then the dregs shipped off to state comps.
So I can see arguments both for and against.
Faith schools do well because they can demand parents jump through hoops to get their sprogs in.
Allowing a far greater degree of selectivity than any others.
But I mean in the greater scheme of things, if the BMF say circumsision is needless surgery ban it, MAF says Halal and Kaushrut is cruel, ban it.
No more bishops or rabbis in the house of lords because of their faith.
Enough, religion and power should not be mixed.
It corrupts and weakens both.
