Lofty your vision is ridiculously narrow.
First of all we are living in the American century, American values are the dominant values of our century.
So what precceding them. The European century or centuries I suppose. And where the hell do you start with that. Imperialism, slavery and war endless war. Every awful development of military technology turned on their neighbours. They reckon there were 3 world wars, the first being the Franco Prussian which killed hundreds of thousands, if not millions.
If the American Marshal Aid hadn't broken up European powers and lead to the Common Market there would have been a 4th world war, probably a nuclear one. It didn't stop the 1940s-60s being an eye watering period of brutality in which old European empires withdrew from Africa and Asia. Infact Britain and France with Israel probably more nearly caused a nuclear war than US and Cuba with the Suez crisis. It was the US that squashed that.
And as for Iraq, it was a land of sunshine, freedom and democracy before Iraq War2. No it bloody wasn't. And you only have to look at Syria or Iran or Egypt to see Arabs are perfectly good at killing each other without Uncle Sams help.
Lofty for f**ks sake go out and read someone you disagree with, challenge your views, because you really are making yourself out to be more foolish than is neccesary.
