Brighton cafe becomes the latest victim of exploding tea towels

12 months. Too much, too little, about right?

About right. You can't steal charity money, but they weren't murdering anyone.

Too much this is vindictive sentencing for a couple of unpleasant louts, who should have had a year or so community service or a short custodial sentence.

This is wasting large sums and valuable prison space to prove a fairly meaningless point.

A crime is a crime who or whatever the victim.

I see we've given £5m to the Philippines

I know it's The Express but it makes you wonder . .

To be fair we have poverty and homeless people but still spend millions on useless crap. Every country does it.

We don't ask for aid though. (As far as I know!)

You could make the same comparison with America, they went to the moon with ghettos on fire through inequality.

The designer was a Nazi who helped kill over 6000 English people with his V1 & V2 rocket design.

The trip was partially funded paid by the collapse of South American democracies and the emergence of a prolific drugs trade.

Makes you wonder

The Indian space rocket programme has achieved extraordinary results on a shoestring budget; for an emerging nation attempting to attract high tech investment it is arguably not the worst use of money.

More space stuff is good. As long as they're doing new things, not just repeating things other countries have already done. Which I would presume they're not.

Maybe they're going to send all their poor people to the moon, where they can live on green moon cheese.

I think my point was that this is not internal money but aid sent to another country that could, perhaps, have been better spent elsewhere.

Maybe overseas aid money could be held in some pot until it's really needed? Then we could have sent £100m to the Philippines for example.

Aid is political, people in distress are a side issue, it has always been that way.
As a kid I put pennies in envelopes that had pictures of hungry black kids and my kids brought the same things home from school as well
