I read the news today oh boy! Page 1,346

This discussion is so depressing, it's the modern attitude of don't get involved, don't share don't be part of a community.

Sit on your bum and wait till someone responsible hands you choice and then decide or don't.
It's Xfactor politics.

The system you suggest means either choosing between a hopeless elected government with no mandate, crawling back to the people for permission for anything. Or an even scarier set of beurodictats, letting us choose on pointless mini choices, but holding back or phrasing the questions how they choose.

I don't want EDL in politics and I want Greens and UKIP in the corners.

Politics will only work when people get involved. Vote for Bastard because he's better than c**t.

But it shouldn't be what you or I want. It should be what we as a population want. Anyhow, I'd be most surprised if I could find 3 in a 100 across the country who had any sympathy with the EDL. Some tighter immigration controls would probably be favoured and all discrimination would probably be opposed. On EU there is likely to be a referendum. Nobody wise would bet on the outcome. As for greening, unfortunately support for it can be very overestimated. Most people want houses, they detest recycling and having to pay, gosh, fivepence for a plastic bag, and they would need counselling if ever separated from their cars.

The key issue, though, is not policy. Sure, there are certain economic aspects to any rebalancing of decision making so that government is for the people rather than corporations. What is more important constitutionally is that projects aren't embarked on when there isn't a mandate. In the past three years, umpteen things have been done that were in none of the manifestos or the Coalition Agreement and they haven't been introduced because of unanticipated events. That's the kind of arrogance which needs be stamped out. We need a lever so that they are brought to a table where what they do is nailed down.

I wrote my last post in just ten minutes off the top of my head. The idea is not one I have spent years considering. But as I wrote it, there was a strong feeling that, actually, yes it would sell - to the young and possibly the elderly. It is not my intention to develop it but there are very good reasons why it should float around a bit. I'm not posting any more on the subject today as another sort of gutter needs sorting out.

Is it any wonder Cyril Smith and Savile were able to rape and molest kids for decades - what with our police force?

When ever I've worked with the police, I've always been impressed by their professionalism. Even when working with vulnerable people who'd make easy arrest staistics.

There seems to be some sort of obstinate minority, they just can't deal with.

Some of this minority seem to have reason for protecting some very very famous and powerful people

I've seen lists of people who used to visit that place

It's astonishing

And they are being protected

I wish they would prioritise weeding out the rotten elements of the police force because it only takes a few dodgy ones to make the entire police force look corrupt or violent and untrustworthy. I'm hardly in the demographic that needs to worry about being ill-treated by the police, but I don't trust them. Every single police officer I've encountered has been a borderline psychopath and I would not trust them to deal with me lawfully if I was on the wrong end of things, but they obviously aren't all like that.

I'm no expert

But doesn't the police , police itself?

Some independent body needs to investigate any police corruption

I suppose it takes a certain mindset to wear a uniform and enforce the law.

But stuff like Operation Avalanche where they withheld details that some of the guys who went to prison for accessing childporn, had had their cards cloned.

That just chills.

But what's the alternative Batman?

Independent Police Complaints Comission.

Which is about as intimidating as a hamster made out of jelly, they've never, not once reccomended a criminal prosecution.

The thing with "pleb gate" is very scary

Would make a great sitcom scene.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-24624639

I thought exactly the same thing when I read that!

Ha!

I'm surprised that hasn't happened yet on Don't Tell The Bride. You shouldn't even let idiots like that be in charge of choosing what colour napkins to use, let alone booking a venue.

Laughing out loud

Part of me feels a bit sorry for him though.

I suspect prison is the safest place for him to be right now.

That'll make three of them then . . . . .
