Well in this case, it doesn't sound like the 'nutter' who was trying to break in was himself armed, but he had a background of violence and had made repeated threats to this person, who picked up a shotgun to try to warn the nutter of. The claim is that the shotgun went off by accident.

Even if it was an intentioned shot (which it probably was, let's be fair), good on him.

There have been a few high-profile cases where the cops barge into the wrong home and shoot the armed occupant.

So in these cases, I take it the occupant should still have been aware that it was the cops? Or were they acting in what they thought was self-defence?

I think if you own a shotgun, then it's worth inventing a few plausible cover stories in advance, in case such a thing happens.

The cops are usually looking for drugs and/or a person wanted for a serious crime. That often means that the homes are in sketchy neighborhoods and the occupant may not believe that the shouts are coming from actual police officers, as burglars sometimes identify themselves as police in order to gain entrance.

In my opinion, the cops don't often encounter people barricaded in fortresses and could just as easily nab someone in public where there is less chance of mistakes.

Exactly. No court in this country would convict you if you kill someone who broke into your home. Texas has the"castle doctrine" which clearly states that you can use deadly force if you are confronted by an intruder in your home or automobile.

If anyone kicks down my door they're going to find themselves full of holes.

Unless of course you're an evil dragon or wizard.

Then the law just lets knights slay you.

Racist or what?

Leaders of the KKK are known as Grand Dragons and Grand Wizards so, yes, I think there may be a hint of racism involved. ;)

The KKK is actually lead by a dragon?

No wonder they shot him in the Hobbit. Are racist dragons more powerful than silver or red dragons?

Well this all comes down to defence, did he threaten you with a weapon himself? If so, blow his f**king brains out.

If not, just pick up a baseball bat a swing wildly until he runs away.

Where do you find a baseball bat?

Where do you find a baseball bat?

In Lost property.

Where do you find a baseball bat?

Argos for £9.99. And when you swing them, you really do get an inflated sense of your own worth. Not bad for £9.99.
