He's extremely odd. And as Aaron said, he looks increasingly like Jaws from James Bond. But he does make some jolly good films.

There's plenty of directors who are also oddball weirdos. Werner Herzog, Lars Von Triers, David Lynch etc.

Yeah, but he more than most has to really struggle to get funding, believe it or not -mainly because his films are so out there.
He really looks like he doesn't want to be doing these interviews - hence my guess.

There was a film about Werner Herzog eating his own shoe on Sky Arts the other day.

Even though his film's aren't what they used to be, I quite like that QT is such an unlikeable tit.
That was quite mild compared to some of Oliver Stone's tantrums when an interviewer goes off topic.
On the whole Hollywood A-list, used to have their arses kissed, take a bit of mild Ross/Norton piss taking with good grace. Russel Crowe aside- now there's a knob.
