A quickie with David Dickinson

Sick
A sketch on here reminded me of a stand-up gag I wrote a while back, so I've put it in sketch form. I know David Dickinson is hardly topical or cutting edge material, but I just wondered which ending people prefer.

WHO DO YOU BLOODY THINK YOU ARE?

DAVID DICKINSON and a GENEALOGIST are in a library.

GENEALOGIST
So David, at long last, I have here your family tree.

DAVID
I can't wait...

THE GENEALOGIST HOLDS UP A LARGE SHEET OF PAPER WITH JUST AN ILLUSTRATION OF A TREE ON IT.

GENEALOGIST
It's a mahogany.

THE GENEALOGIST POINTS OUT OF THE WINDOW TOWARDS SOME TREES.

I prefer the second one, but they both work well.

Thanks Ben. I prefer the 2nd too - bit more surreal.

First one is better, second one is good but good be done with any one.

But top stuff.

Hey DD

I don't think it's right as a sketch as it stands. Too obvious for me (though I can see it's merits in stand-up). Needs more of a build-up/subversion to work as a sketch.

My opinion of course. You can tell me to stick it up my arse, as usual ;)

Stick it up your arse! :)

The joke (i.e that Dickinson's family tree is mahogony) was a throw-away line in the stand-up, during a short explaination of that TV show. I wondered whether the audience would think it was racist but it seemed not...
