Help With Historical Detail

Was wondering if anyone knows of any websites I can use for research for a project I'm working on partly set in the 1980s and 90s?

What I'm particularly after is UK release dates for movies, what bands toured and when and where they played as I want to be as accurate as I can. The whole thing kicks off on Live Aid night and I don't want the characters to go to a movie the following week that opened in January and ran for six weeks.

I've tried IMDb and the BFI but have drawn a blank.

Does anybody have any ideas?

From there you can search by topic, and find out which films opened that year. You'd then have to do additional research to pinpoint the UK release dates of a movie you were interested in -- but it's a start.
