JEREMY IS SITTING WITH HIS PARENTS (CLIVE AND SUE)

Sue: Have you seen much of your brother, Max, recently?

Jeremy: Not really Mum. Erm but yeah, as I was saying...

Clive: Were so proud of him you know.

Jeremy: I know you've said (BEAT) numerous times. It's just I really have got something to tell you...

Clive(CONT'D): So proud. Aren't we Sue?

Sue: Oh yeah, pride and joy. (BEAT) What was it you wanted to say love?

Jeremy: Mum, Dad (SMILES) You know I attempted to climb K2 (BEAT) the second biggest mountain on our planet.

Sue: Yeah?

Jeremy: I can announce, I completed it successfully.

Clive: That's brilliant son.

Sue: Congratulations! (BEAT) I...

MAX ENTERS THE ROOM. HE IS IN FULL MOUNTAINEERING CLOTHING.

Clive: Max?

Sue: Is that you son? Where have you been?

Max: Just conquered Everest.

Jeremy (GRITTED TEETH): Wow! Impressive. Well done.

CLIVE AND SUE RUN OVER TO HUG HIM. CAMERA SHOWS JEREMY WHO PICKS UP A NEWSPAPER AND SIGHS.

Not so keen on this, it is a little obvious. Also, being pedantic, isn't K2 much harder to climb than Everest?

Not too sure Timbo, just a quick google search informed me that K2 was the second biggest mountain and Everest was the biggest. The idea was to have Jeremy do something really good but at the end of every sketch his brother Max would always do one better. Cheers for the feedback though Timbo. Much appreciated.

It's a very, very old joke and a bit long with it.

There was even a comic strip in the Beano about it, which Viz mocked.

Would it not be funnier if the other brother had come in covered in blood and the parents pandered to him being "the best serial killer in the world...our special little murderer".

Or is that too left-field? It's an old idea but can be reworked, I'm sure. Nice one

I think one should still be a mountaineer...just the other should be a serial killer. Adds a nice bit of WTF value. Make the sketch quick enough and it won't linger long enough to be hated!
