Hmmm.. I can see how more 'professional' writers would welcome this but a hierarchical system takes the fun out of the site a bit. That said, the idea does have its merits.
I was thinking it would be viewable to all signed-in forum members. Just means lurkers can't read it.
I agree with what a couple of others have said, I'd like more info on how to get your work seen by the right people, how the industry works, how to pitch scripts. That type of stuff.

Isn't there a criteria on that website Kevin Spacey is involved with that means you have to read and rate three scripts before being allowed to post something of your own. Could something like that be made to work here?
I was thinking that perhaps we could have a "Seefacts says..." forum.
We'd put questions to Seefacts about how the industry works and he could tell us.

Wouldn't this lead to resentment from those not on the list? You'd get a microcosm of what happened with the College of Comedy where people were saying, "How come they're offered the opportunity? They're already trundling along quite nicely, they don't need any more help. Twats."

Wouldn't it be better if the 'list' consisted of those who proved they were serious and committed, rather than judged on talent/previous track record?
Though I don't know how this could be done....

Just because somebody is serious and committed, doesn't mean they're talented.

I know. I was trying to move away from the idea that those on the 'list' wouldn't be judged on talent, because who would be the judge? Whereas showing a degree of commitment and effort means that they may benefit from being on the 'list'. I just thought it seemed fairer because it's not ability that's being judged...
Sad fact is, as a producer I wouldn't want to waste my time with people who haven't been produced at all. I'd think if they had talent they'd have been produced already. And then I'd wait for another producer to do the hard job of identifying and nurturing the unknowns.
I wasn't just thinking of the private forum as a means of writers selling their wares; after all, as has been said, sending it off to producers will do that. I was thinking more of place where questions can be asked etc.
Like Micheal Jacob posts when a question's raised, giving his take on it or advice. So it would be more of an 'ask an expert' than a "please look at my script" type of thing. (though maybe there could be a facilty where writers can pitch and any interested producers could then ask to see the whole script if the idea seems attractive).
Or a 'My Very Best Work' thread with one post per user (editable). Possibly ordered by some sort of voting system.
That's probably not particularly well thought-out, but I'm an ideas man...
