The changing scene in the living room in American Werewolf.
(I apparently have to mention that on here every other day.)
Also the similar scene in The Howling where he changes into a werewolf in an office. (It's scarier if they're in everyday places).
All of the film IT.
Several bits of Ghostbusters. (The woman in the library, the big cat/dogs and the fridge.)
And the boat scene in Willy Wonka. (And the bit at the end where he turns all angry at Charlie.)

Oh nooooo! You have to be kidding!
Willy Wonka is one of the scariest films ever!
NOooooooooooooooo!
What?
Do you find the boat scene relaxing or something?!
It's supposed to be scary!
Quote: Griff @ November 2 2008, 10:56 PM GMTWe've done this before I think. The movie scenes I can remember giving me nightmares were in The Wizard Of Oz (that Witch is well scary), The Thing, Casino (the guys getting beaten and then buried alive in the desert) and the Doctor Who story Planet Of The Spiders.
Thought we might have done Griff but the Empire article should generate some debate.
I'll still go with the Salem's Lot kid-tapping-on-the-window scene.

I thought it'd be that bit on the countdown when Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was mentioned.

Well not relaxing... But I wouldn't have called it scary! That's one of my favourite ever films.
(I'm assuming we're talking Gene Wilder. I've not seen the new one.)

Don't waste your time - nowhere near as good as the original.
It's one of my favourite films too!
I totally love Gene Wilder, so at the end when he turns all evil it's like the most disturbing, horrible thing ever.
alien on the camcorder at the kids party in Signs.....scared the hell out of me!

Agreed! I've refused to watch the remake.

But he's only evil for like a minute! Then he goes even nicer than before!
I'm going to be humming songs from it for the rest of the night now.
Aaaactually I have it on DVD somewhere!

Oh yes! I was terrified when I saw that. My whole tutor group collectively jumped out of their skins when we were shown it at the end of term.
