Quote: Griff @ November 3 2008, 12:40 AM GMTI ate a Kangaroo Pie in Oz. And no that's not a euphemism, the "roo pie" is quite popular. It was OK.
There's a great pie shop in Reading.
I went there straight after seeing the Sweeney Todd movie and it was a surreal experience, especially as there is actually a barber's shop next door.
There's an Aussie themed pub in Middlebrough that sells Kangaroo steaks.
I ordered one but it jumped off my plate. Whahey! I theng yow!
But seriously folks, yes. Kangaroo steak. Not nice.
I like kangaroo! Only ever had it in burger form though.
Talking of pies, I LOVE teviot pie, but I haven't had that in years. Such lovely pastry on those bad boys.
I wouldn't eat a Kangaroo, I spent too many years watching Skippy, and he was too intelligent to eat. Where do people draw the line on eating meat: would you tuck into a nice chimp curry?
I like Kangaroo.
I won't eat pies which has "organs" in it...liver, kidney etc.
I love Thai green chicken pie.
I love apple pie.
I once watched a kangaroo die. True story.
I think I've seen more dead kangaroos than alive after driving up the East Coast of Aus.

Organs!
I like hairy pie.
I think it's easy with mass-produced meats, like chicken, to forget about them being living creatures. When you have to think about whether you'd eat something a bit different, e.g. Kangaroo, I think you then consider the creature itself, rather than see it as a foodstuff.

Kangaroos are phenomenally stupid. Skippy was actually 6 kangaroos, they could act for about an hour at a time before it got to hard.
Also for all the hand stuff, they had a preserved kangaroo arm on a stick.
Kangaroo tastes great. But ostrich is even better.

Hooray some one finally made the joke!
