Has anybody ever seen this sitcom? It was one of them early David Jason ITV sitcoms that he won't permit repeats to anymore or DVD releases. I got a strange message on this forum today from somebody who has never even posted anything on this forum telling me he has 9 of the 13 episodes and that he is selling them on ebay at the minute for £10. I've ordered my copy. There are five left:
The Top Secret Life of Edgar Briggs
Got 'em all (well, the 9). Might start watching this weekend, since you've reminded me.
The theme tune is on YouTube. It looks a pretty funny show judging by the theme tune.
I seem to remember it being pretty funny but I probably haven't seen it since it was broadcast in the 70s, likewise 'A Sharp Intake Of Breath'
Seen one episode of A Sharp Intake Of Breath and it is really funny.
A bit of a let-down is TTSLOEB to be honest with you. Briggs is a secret agent who is always getting things wrong. The thing is, there was one problem. Briggs was so thick that it was inevitable that things would go wrong. It would have been alot more funnier if Briggs was a normal person who was just very unlucky. Do you understand where I'm coming from.
David Jason has vetoed this show and one of his other earlier sitcoms, Lucky Feller, from being repeated as he feels they show him in a bad light for some reason. Yeah ok for him, but the rest of the cast of both shows still around need the repeat fees probably!

He should be proud of what he did before. Before I started writing properly, I did some truly awful college videos. They were shit, but I wouldn't not let them be shown. It's all part of the process of becoming a writer, so I'm proud of them for that reason alone.

That one episode was brilliant, I've now seen about half a dozen more episodes and it is extremely mediocre.
The show also features Richard Wilson I believe.

This sitcom is coming out on DVD in March 2015. Great now we can watch the entire series without annoying foreign subtitles.
Just looked it up on Wikipedia...they were showing this on German TV in 1976 and again in the 80s. Not that many sitcoms were shown in the German speaking world, Fawlty Towers and The Thin Blue Line (horrible German dub) spring to mind.
Was this popular in Britain?
Another David Jason rarity is up for release then! I've never seen more than a couple of clips of this, so look forward to it's release.
Really is wonderful news. Can't wait to see it crisp and complete.

Has there been any word on why these "previously banned due to David Jason's embarrassment" shows have started being released?
