Chess

2 CHESS MASTERS ARE PLAYING A MATCH.

CHESS MASTER1 MAKES A MOVE.

VO

And Kroptkin's revealed his plan and it's a brilliant one. Burgmont will be mated in 2 moves, and there's not a thing he can do.

CHESS MASTER2 SCRATCHES HIS CHIN TOUCHES A PIECE AND MOVES HIS HAND.

VO

Burgmont is doomed, a humiliating defeat for the wunderkind. There's only one move left to save this debacle.

CHESS MASTER2 TOUCHES ANOTHER PIECE AND MOVES HIS HAND.

VO

There's just 15 seconds on the clock, is Burgmont going to allow time to run out?

GRANDMASTER2 REACHES UNDER THE TABLE AND PULLS OUT A SAWN OFF SHOT GUN.

HE SHOOTS THE CLOCK, THEN SHOOTS GRANDMASTER1'S PIECES.

VO

Masterful, a surprise Ianescu defence with shotgun. Burgmont retains the cup.

Not so keen on the shotgun ending, but this line 'Burgmont will be mated in 2 moves' could lead to them doing some anal over the chessboard.

Nicely executed (as indeed was (Ianescu) but felt a little familiar.

I don't think I was in any danger of originality.

But thanks I wanted to see how it flowed.

Bump

I like it but I think the reason Timbo rightly says it seems familiar is that it's quite similar to the chess episode of Bottom, where they spend the best part of the episode ramping up to this incredible game of chess only for Richard to treat it like a kid's game of war (and receive a just pasting).

Never saw that one. Great minds think alike and all that.

I thought it was an interesting example of the violent solution to a none violent situation sketch.

As first I believed by God in Genesis, with the death of Abel sketch.

Just a couple of things-
1. You can't touch a piece and then move your hand, if you touch it you have to move it.

2. A 'Chessmaster' would resign long before mate in two.

I liked the sketch though. And sorry, I'm a chess geek.

P.S. To chess players the line: Masterful, a surprise Ianescu defence with shotgun. Would be better as: Masterful, the Shotgun variation of the Ianescu Defence.

Again I'm so sorry :$
