In a similar vein to the story, I heard a bunch of locals discussing the new 'paki' running the newsagent and how they wouldn't be going in anymore. (He was a very friendly Sikh).
I've heard that too in the village I grew up in.
I was extremely shocked when I went back there to hear such racist and also anti-semitic remarks.
I said that those kind of comments weren't acceptable and was laughed at.

Apparently an ice rink is going to be built in West Bromwich (talk about polishing a turd) and the Leader of Sandwell Council said .
"It will create at least 100 jobs and they are the kind of jobs that local people can do."
As opposed to what?
Ones that require the ability to read and write?
