Is Mandela Dead Yet? Phone sales caller wind up Page 2

Quote: Tuumble @ July 10 2013, 12:12 PM BST

I have to admit I found this all a bit puzzling. There seemed to have been confusion that it was actually me personally who created this audio file.

Nothing was prepared in advance, it was just a silly phone call where someone, who just happened to be an 80s pop star, made daft comments as he went along.

He'd had a flurry of sales callers and chose to lead the phone operator, who just happened to be South African, by keeping her hanging on thinking she had a sale. He was playing a role of an absent-minded half-wit and he certainly doesn't talk like that in real life.

I guess I'd have gone with the old skool

"You can't talk to me."

"Why not?"

"Diplomatic Immunity!"

FREEEEHEE

NELSON

MANDELAAA

I remember the day he got out of prison

It was like a final ever episode of the South African Porridge

Except Fletch was never buggered with lead pipes and had his penis and testicles electrocuted

You're a bit crap, sooty. Why do you shit on so many people? The world is not your critique forum. If you want to go around saying this stuff in real life you have every right but what's the point in shitting on Tummbles piece when all he did was share it to us?

You really are a dick and don't PM me to talk about it because I couldn't give a shit.

Sorry Jez, not trying to hijack your thread with this.

That's a bit crap to be honest.

Laughing out loud

Gangster?

Hmm ..

Terrorist maybe

But at least his cause was justified - no sane person can dispute that surely ?

He wasn't a terrorist, he was into civil disobedience and economic sabotage. The violent resistance came years after he was incarcerated, though there is evidence he supported it.

I have strong feelings about this as I was encarcerated in Robin island with him.

Does that chat up line ever work?

And I wasn't locked up, I was the guard on the gate.

Mandela as a figurehead was invaluable, as a politician he was moot.
His hatred of colonialism was greater than his concern for fellow Africans that's why Mugabe is still in power, for me Desmond Tutu is the better man.

If I was to make a comparison with Jerry Adams, he was interned at the height of the troubles and spent the next 30 years creating peace.

Like Mandela he has definitely murdered people but despite Special Branch surveillance he still met the cold blooded killers who ran the IRA and despite the danger of being killed by his own men he turned them toward the ballot box and that is the greater achievement in my book.

Apartheid was morally repugnant and the ANC did well to break it down alongside a courageous generation of normal black people.

Sadly after it fell nothing else was delivered and now black cops shoot union members who strike at the behest of the new pigs who were pink but are now black.
