Maybe her mum was in intensive care and the hospital was phoning? I'd take that call at any checkout.
I read the news today oh boy! Page 1,245

Definetly wasn't anything important.

Sorry reds, I was referring to the news item, not your customer who is clearly rude, and should have her head stuck up a dead koala's bum.
Ermmm . . .
Ooops, one of The Nolans died today...
Doug Engelbart, inventor of the computer mouse has died. Paramedics shook him, and banged him on the table, but were unable to save him.

They should have cleaned all the muck of his rollers and then taken his ball out and washed it under the tap.

You've still got a ball in yours? Luddite.
Interesting stuff about today regarding the release of Jon Venables.
I can't help but be slightly irritated that the papers give Denise Fergus and Ralph Bulger so much airtime.
They have suffered in just about the worst way it is possible to suffer. I cannot imagine what they have been through. I would want the perpetrators to suffer as much as possible - I would probably want them dead. As much as I would like to think otherwise, I would want my revenge.
And that is why they are precisely the worst people to have a view on JV's parole hearing. The procedures were in place and clearly the Parole Board felt he could be managed in the community. The views of the parents are completely irrelevant.

I'm afraid the views of the parents can never be irrelevant. The details of this crime, many of which haven't become public, are so abhorrent, so inhuman as to lead me to the conclusion that this individual should never be released. He should at the least be monitored on a constant basis in some kind of psychiatric unit.

Wired for sound or just for a hearing aid

I agree about the abhorrence of the crime - I have read some of the police reports, and you are right - some of the vilest details have never been made public.
RT and JV were many things. What they weren't was insane. That is what made it so hard to come to terms with. These were two children, damaged yes, crazy, no.
But why does any of that make the parent's views relevant?

Maybe not crazy at the time of the crime, but I don't know about now. To carry around that kind of guilt can only corrode the mind if you have any conscience at all, If you haven't then you definitely need locking up. I know they were young children at the time, and I am normally given to be liberal minded, but in this case I am uneasy about his release. I can't even begin to grasp how I would feel if that happened to my children, or how you could go on, the bravery and fortitude of those parents is amazing. But you are right the law must be objective, but it must also safeguard the general public.
Listening too much to the parents results in problems like Megan's Law.

To much yes, but you must always listen
