Durham Town
Roger Whittaker.

It's a live version on YouTube.
After the intro he sings the line I've Got to leave old Durham town.
Then he sings the line I've got to leave old Durham town.
At which point the audience gives that ripple of applause in recognition.

I reckon I'd have got the all clues I needed as to which song it was just after the first line.

Good job I wasn't there really I'd have shown everyone else up.

Maybe it was in Durham and they hoped he would.

Yes, their debut album is one of the most startlingly original ever, and would go on my list of top 40 debut albums, no question!

Nice album cover too. But if you ever come across a vinyl copy with the gatefold sleeve, check out the photo inside. All the band are looking weird and wonderful with the exception of the bassist who looks like a geography teacher and totally uncool. It's really funny. Laughing out loud

They changed bassists every album so he probably didn't fit in.

I think 10cc are vastly underrated. Fantastic lyrics, and subjects no-one else would dream of writing about. "Sheet Music" is my fave.

Funny, cos I rebought "How Dare You" on vinyl, unfortunately not a gatefold sleeve, like my original copy of the time. But there were a few tracks I didn't recognize - made me realize that I must have skipped them at the time, and just played the ones I really liked.

I think generally with vinyl you had a preferred side and played that much more than the other one.

That's such a great cover, isn't it?

Hadn't really taken in before the orange and green lighting effect at the bottom, or at least how prominent it is.

Great album too.

I've always loved the way they paid tribute to Buddy by exactly replicating Words Of Love. No trying to be clever with something that couldn't be improved on.

The music's still in their "old style". Only the cover hints at their future psychedelic tendencies. It's a visual precursor to the Rubber Soul album.

"Meet The Eels - Essential Eels Vol 1, 1996-2006"

A good intro to the wonderful world of Eels.

Any love for Eels on here?

AgentGinger perhaps? Eels isn't a million miles from Beck.
