I so love Kate Pierson's voice!

Marr is looking like Noel Gallagher. I saw him (Marr) in Zürich with his group The Healers as supporting act for...yes...Oasis.
Ironically Noel wasn't on stage that evening. For health reasons or otherwise, maybe he had personal differences with Liam.

Are you sure you weren't watching Beady Eye?

It was in 2002 or 2003. Years away from the break up. But the band was already falling apart.
These bastards only played about 60 minutes or so. A ManU match was on that night. Angry

Yes yes it's fantastic

I utterly loathe and detest B52's

But she sings on R.E.M.'s album Out of Time and she sounds brilliant

I'm guessing there's a Marmite factor to her, but personally she strikes me as one of the most interesting solo female artists of recent years.

I just picked up a cheap copy of "Siren", their fifth album which I bought at the time.

Apart from the cover, I remember being underwhelmed by it at the time, and my opinion hasn't changed in 38 years.

It's got the great singles on it, "Love is the Drug", and "Both Ends Burning", but the rest is padding/filler.

The previous three albums were incredible - "For Your Pleasure", "Stranded", and "Country Life", but imo they never produced anything anywhere near that good, album-wise, after that, but that's fair enough really. Those three albums would all go in any top 100 albums list I made, if I could be bothered. :)

Add their debut album and you have one of the greatest "four album streaks" in rock history.

And I agree with your comment on "Siren". It's here they started to become boring.

Yes, their debut album is one of the most startlingly original ever, and would go on my list of top 40 debut albums, no question!

Nice album cover too. But if you ever come across a vinyl copy with the gatefold sleeve, check out the photo inside. All the band are looking weird and wonderful with the exception of the bassist who looks like a geography teacher and totally uncool. It's really funny. Laughing out loud

Durham Town
Roger Whittaker.

It's a live version on YouTube.
After the intro he sings the line I've Got to leave old Durham town.
Then he sings the line I've got to leave old Durham town.
At which point the audience gives that ripple of applause in recognition.

I reckon I'd have got the all clues I needed as to which song it was just after the first line.

Good job I wasn't there really I'd have shown everyone else up.
