Alias Legal Complications?

If you write under a different name, would it cause complications with contracts or any other legal matters of copyright and what not?

If it was any good, I would claim to be the person under the alias!

If it was shit, you can have it...

No, it's the tax man you'll confuse.
I had a different name for acting but I also opened a bank account in that name and reported any earnings to the taxman

Ah, I see.

I write under aliases (What? So SlagA isn't my real name? Laughing out loud) but always sign contracts (the few I have signed) with my real name and "writing as blah blah" tagged on.

I hate people that use aliases on these forums.

I may be being ignorant but how's that work Bushbaby? I thought you needed legal i.d. to open a bank account?-I had trouble opening my first one, under my own name, because of paperwork i.d.

Leevil-as SlagA said, sign legal documents with your real name then 'stage/pen name ' etc. And if it's co-written make sure you both sign.

Ask Ronnie Barker.

Oh, he passed on, so forget that.

As SlagA said, I'm sure a contract would be signed stipulating the alias and it'd be all above board.

I can't remember now...oh yes, it was a credit card not a bank account. I probably used my Equity membership or something, it's 17 years ago or thereabouts and my memory has faded somewhat :D The biggest problem I had was when I got a TV ad in europe and the name didn't match my passport!! That caused some stress but in the end, the company got the airticket in my real name

What's your problem? Just ask AJP. :P

He told me to plead guilty. I was only there as a witness!

Like all lawyers, as long as he gets a big fee, then that's justice! ;)
