What are you listening to now? Page 970

Just listened to Bandstand by Family. Roger Chapman (no relation) has to be one of the best rock vocalists to come out of Britain.

Now Miss Judy's Farm on A nods as good as a wink to a blind horse - the Faces.

I saw Roger Chapman's Streetwalkers on a bill at the Roundhouse, Chalk Farm, around the time I saw Dr Feelgood there, and Argent. My first ever gigs.

Too bad - the Faces.

Saw Roger Chapman in my local club about 5 years ago. Pure class!

Nice and chilled. Geek

New/Alt. Country is definitely becoming one of my favourite genres.

Have you tried The Jayhawks?

Has Van gone?

I'm listening to How Dare You by 10cc. Their last good album in my opinion. Headroom.

Have you tried The Jayhawks?

Nope. Have just reserved a couple of their cds from my library - "Rainy Day Music" and "Sound of Lies". Cheers!

I think 10cc are vastly underrated. Fantastic lyrics, and subjects no-one else would dream of writing about. "Sheet Music" is my fave.

Funny, cos I rebought "How Dare You" on vinyl, unfortunately not a gatefold sleeve, like my original copy of the time. But there were a few tracks I didn't recognize - made me realize that I must have skipped them at the time, and just played the ones I really liked.

Great album. Beeswing has to be one of my favourite songs.

Lots of good stuff on it...when I listened to it this morning I almost felt the urge to dance to "I Can't Wake Up To Save My Life". (Thank God I didn't...I'm looking ridiculous when I dance).

Got hold of this a couple of days ago and still undecided. There are some good songs, but others that haven't clicked with me yet. The first song, "The Right Thing Right" has grown on me a bit, but I don't think it was the best song to open with. Track 3, "European Song" was where it all starts to take off, maybe because it's got a more Smithsy guitar sound to it? I like track 8 too - "Say Demesne". I'm just not sure about the overall production sound - a bit too bright and relentless, or something? Not spacey enough perhaps, and needs more light and shade? Track 11, "New Town Velocity" has Marr's trademark guitar sound too, and is the better for it.

Marr is looking like Noel Gallagher. I saw him (Marr) in Zürich with his group The Healers as supporting act for...yes...Oasis.
Ironically Noel wasn't on stage that evening. For health reasons or otherwise, maybe he had personal differences with Liam.

Now I'm listening to this, Transatlantic's "Out Of The Night"; my favourite part of their epic The Whirlwind":

The riff at the beginning sounds like The Beatles' "It's Getting Better".
