Ummmm, that's jogged my memory. I think I bought a record of Gorecki's work about a year ago - it was going cheap (a quid or so), and I'd heard he was interesting. Must try and find it one day, never got around to listening to it, which neatly sums up my general feelings about classical music.
I must own less than ten classical records - Mozart, Beethoven, some other stuff. Liked bits of Satie I've heard - discovered him from the movie, "Badlands". Went through a brief Mahler phase in my late teens/early twenties, but didn't stick.
btw there's an interview with Wilko Johnson on 6 music this Sunday at 12 noon - I only recently heard about him being terminally ill, in a piece about the Clash. Apparently, Paul Simenon copied his clothes style when they started out.
What makes the Wilko news extra sad is that he was going through a revival, after years and years of undeserved obscurity.
Yes, sad about Wilko - I went to one of his farewell gigs a month or so ago.
On the classical music front, if it doesn't sound like a film score I'm really not interested. When I'm writing I can't have anything with a lyrics so seek out the particularly moody classical stuff
Interview with Wilko in Viva Rock magazine which I've bought but not read yet.
Regarding classical music I've got nothing against it but there's so much rock pop and blues to hear that I haven't got much time.
Never heard of "Viva Rock". Can you get it at Smiths? How long's it been around for?

That would need quite serious thought then, considering that I bought 3 second-hand cds for a total of under a fiver the other day - Mystery Jets, Raconteurs, Everything But The Girl.
Freebie cds usually turn up in charity shops eventually. I picked up this one recently.
Some good stuff on there, and some not so good stuff, and - as you might expect - some weird stuff. William Burroughs doing "Falling in love again" in German, anyone?

Nice and chilled. 
New/Alt. Country is definitely becoming one of my favourite genres.
