...roll on Newsjack in the Autumn! (Unless there's going to be another Kirrin Island podcast first?)

Yep there will be a Live from Kirrin Island before the next series of Newsjack. In planning for late July/August. Look out for details on a KI thread before too Long.

Nope me neither, so don't feel too downhearted.

Maybe us rejects could get together and do a rejects podcast (although it might be awful, after all, none of us got picked ;) )

There'd probably be too much to use so we'd have to cut some of it. Then we'd have reject rejects.
It's a downward spiral from there.

Mike.

Most of us have been rejected by Radio Rejects-had the same idea.

Those Radio Rejects guys were just priveliged oxbridge types born with a silver spoon in their mouth and a fast track into the rejects business.
Ordinary rejects like us never stood a chance!

brilliant! can't wait!

As ever, much fun was had at tonight's recording.
Well done everybody who got recorded this series & good luck on making the cut (against some tough competition).

Really hope this gets a second series. The recordings have had some great sketches & it's good that the beeb runs a non-topical open submission show. The fact it's recorded in Manchester is the icing on the cake.

PS - Can anybody help me check my email works and that I've not been blacklisted by the BBC's spam filter?

Jon Hunter's long prophesied piece on writing for SWYW is now up.

I thought there were some useful tips for both this and Newsjack - deff going to try the tick thing as a form of editing for sketches I write now.

Very useful advice in there. A must read for any aspiring or developing writer.

The takeaway lesson for me personally was that I don't do enough editing on my work. I'm too easily distracted by writing the next thing (and with a fifty sketch limit there is always a next thing) and not always disciplined enough to give each sketch the good hard edit it deserves. Hope there's a Series 2 so I can do better next time.

Clinging on to a very faint hope here considering I haven't heard a peep since I entered but for those who attended the kitchen sink recording did you see any sketches on 'f words', chairworld ad, blackmail or a plumber who changes?

Can't recall any sketches on 'f words' (except the statutory 'French fresias for fancy frogs' farce).

And I saw neither blackmail nor black male.

Chairworld should up it's advertising budget if it wants to infiltrate BBC recordings.

Which leaves the plumber...

The only plumber used to be stockbroker (or similar) - which was a change in the past rather than a change during the sketch. Guess that's not yours - is it?

I really thought my kitchen sink sketch about a mother who is disappointed by her grown-up son because he's bringing shame on the family for going steady with a nice lass when every other lad down their street is dating a foul-mouthed trollop, coupled with the fact he's bringing even more shame on the family for being a virgin while every other lad down their street has got their other half in the family way stood a good chance.
Ah, well.

Unless of course my email is broken. ;)

Nope none were mine. Ah well back to the drawing board we go. Thanks for the clarification.

Emails seem to be going out confirming sci fi fantasy sketches that made the edit now, by now I mean yesterday when I didnt realise id got an email. One of mines made it, anyone else?

Nothing, I think I paid for poor editing, having a piss poor profile with them and being poor.
Still the all powerful people at the Beeb gave us a chance and some made it through so good on them.
As for me I have lost hope of meeting any of the Beebs criteria and will opt to eek out out my life as the writer who never was.
