Sitcom Stars in the charts Page 2

You want to know the saddest thing? You're right. :(

It was called The River.

You never let us down :) All I seem to remember about it was David Essex dressed up as vaguely-respectable gypsy type trying to shag some young Irish woman. I'm sure quite a few of us get these vague sitcom flashbacks from time to time. 'Robin's Nest', for example, sometimes haunts my sleepless nights.

Robin's Nest, I fear, haunts many of us.

Whatever happened to Richard O'Sullivan?

Whatever happened to Richard O'Sullivan?

He's in a retirement home due to illness.

And he's only about 63yrs old :(

Oh dear, how sad... You should never ask these questions, should you? (Although I must admit I tiny bit of me thought he might have died.)

If he's still able, how about a nursing home spin-off sitcom called 'Robin's Retreat' (or has there already been one called that)?

I think he may just have mobility problems after a stroke. Saw a picture of him from about a year ago, looked happy and healthy enough, exactly as you remember from Man About The House and Robin's Nest - just without hair.

So he didn't act then.

Well that's good to hear.

I haven't seen any recent pictures but every report I ever read seems to suggest him being very seriously ill.

Whether that's true I dunno.

You know what papers are like. If you're spotted buying tissues in Boots, you've got the plague. (Unless you're frostyboy, in which case it's just another marathon wankfest.)

David Essex acted in The River as well as Natalie Wood floated in one! :D

Neil Morrisey - Bob The Builder.

Peter Kay & Matt Lucas - 500 Miles

Ricky Gervais - Whatever that band was called he was in during the 80's

Wasn't Charlie Higson in some ropey 80's band that had a very minor chart hit too?

There's a clue in the name - The Higsons. Part of the Norwich sound. I always liked Serious Drinking.

I think Vic Reeves and... Jonathan Ross? and some others have a middle aged people's punk band.

I severely doubt they've ever been in the charts though.

Oooh, Vic Reeves did Dizzy with The Wonder Stuff.
