I didn't get this the first time I read it. Maybe the audience should be cheering then suddenly gasp. Only when she gets handed her knickers back we realise what they were so shocked about.
it's good. maybe word it slightly differently:
BEFORE A PACKED STADIUM, A YOUNG GIRL SKATER TAKES TO THE ICE AND PERFORMS A VERY AVERAGE ROUTINE TO VERY OVER THE TOP CHEERS AND APPLAUSE. THE CROWD GO WILD.
