I think his first 4 albums were pure rock n roll. Albums 5 & 6 had both their moments.
So basically, I'd recommend the first 6 albums* without hesitation. The rest of his catalogue is more than forgettable (a case in which a hits compilation makes sense).

Yes, that's a pretty great album. And don't forget the two Rod Stewart fronted Jeff Beck Group records.

That's the Faces though. A different kettle of worms. 3 great studio albums plus a live'un.
