The Smiths - Pilot Page 3

Yes

Looking forward to this. The American version was terrible.

The American version was terrible.

Precisely the reason I can't even comprehend why this is being made in the first place! We can make our own crap sitcoms withoout copying the Yanks can't we?

Yeah however with Lee Mack writing it, it could be a success.

He's got enough of his own projects, I think.

He Must be rich and very lucky. Look at him 10 years ago he was bust!

If this does get a series comissioned, I hope 'The Smiths' is just a working title and they change it to something more inventive.

What difference does it make?

Has there ever been another instance of an American show getting a British remake? I honestly can't think of one of the top of my head, it is so often the other way around.

On-topic, Greg Davies would be great as the brother, he is even similar in his mannerisms. As for Lee, I hope he steps down the Northern-ness and gives an average Joe performance - that is IMO what made the Ray character likeable.

There are a few. Off the top of my head:

Brighton Belles (The Golden Girls)
The Upper Hand (Who's The Boss?)
The Fosters (Good Times)
Days Like These (That '70s Show)

Loved By You (Mad About You)
Married For Life (Married With Children)
In With The Flynns (Grounded For Life)

I Loved Everybody Loves Raymond so this should be really funny if it gets a full series commission. Does that mean The Smiths could run for 9 series using all the ELR storylines?

It could. But there's no definite reason to think it will. It all depends if they want to write their own scripts or just adapt existing ones.

It would be nice to see a mix of old scripts mixed in with Mack's own material. Why don't they call the show - Everybody Loves The Smiths?

Just noticed some pics from this on...a Doctor Who website: http://blogtorwho.blogspot.co.uk/

Ha, same set layout, weird.
The old lady character doesn't look hideous enough.

Interesting to note this now listed as a BBC Three rather than BBC One pilot.

Is a full series going ahead though?
