This last episode seems to me as if the planners said:
"Right we need an episode to suit 6 or 7 year old kids."
Doctor Who... Page 979
Hmmm...apparently, along with some sort of montage to celebrate 50 years of Who at the Baftas tonight, I've read a few people saying there will be some sort of announcement...
Moffat announcing he's leaving? Smith's off? Both? Something to do with old Doctor's and the 50th special? None of these things?
You know there were good bits, I always like these impossible seige episodes. And this one did them well, Warwick Davis was good.
But I watched the David Tenant Dalek invasion again and it was the same mistakes being repeated. An army of blokes in costumes, multiplied by CGI in broad daylight. I suppose if you've got a Hollywood budget you can make it work.
And the Cybermen I used to prefer to Daleks. And now they're just rip off bloody Borg and the Borg were tapped out.
This is the BBC's flagship scifi show, so I just expect more.

How on earth did that nut-job notice the tree?
Oh dear... looks like I'm avoiding this thread for a bit!
I have a feeling John Hurt maybe taking on Jon Pertwees Doctor
The point about the Cybermen is that they are tragic figures. They are not some sort of super robot, their story is that they went too far in improving their bodies and lost their humanity.
A modern analogue is cosmetic surgery. A story that shows them as an army of ruthless killers misses the point. Also there was always a fragility about them, centred around the chest unit - which was their life-support - a bit like an iron lung.
Over the years costume designers have eradicated this feature and they now no longer make sense.
Also they were once frightening. Their costume now resembles that of a super hero. They in no way terrify.

I recall watching Doctor Who from age 4. Didn't need little kids appearing in the show to make it appealing. It just needed scary monsters/villains, the cool TARDIS, a sexy assistant (even a four-year-old knows what's hot) and a non-imbecilic Doctor to save the day. Don't think I'd have stomached the maudlin emotional ethereal shite of New Who as a four-year-old, although I was rather undemanding.

I believe they were written around the time of the first organ transplants and that was their influence, organ transplant gone too far.
You're right this new version is just meaningless.

You may have to avoid the internet for the rest of the week.

Yeah, Moffat can't just create an assistant character - she has to be the Doctor's mum or aunt or guardian angel. I wish he'd f**k off to America or something.

It will be worth it just to see Sooty in a kilt. I'd wear a tea cosy on my head Taren Capel style.
Godot I knew it was a mistake to let you bring a camera, a tea cosy and no safety word to our weekend away
