New at the box office Page 139

The new Great Gatsby looks absolute shit, like a glossy cinema advert slightly connected to a famous book. And the bloody need for a preposterous rock soundtrack on every film, even if it is set in a time before rock really pisses me off. Bloody Baz Luhrmann and his dumb films take kitch into the realms of irritation.

Nah, Baz is a very talented film maker. Strictly Ballroom and Moulin Rouge are great films. The Jazz Age is quite difficult to capture on screen so maybe Gatsby needs a director with his flamboyance? We shall see.

Will this be the worse film ever made?

I rather dodged a bullet, as I was up for this at one point.

Holy shit.

Can't stand any of those films, to flamboyant for me I'm afraid and to soundtrack driven. Can't be doing with it, still each to his own.

I guess his films are for people who want to see something spectacular but are bored shitless with comic books.

Pingl, your dislike of camp and kitsch would carry a lot more weight if you hadn't popped up in the Vicious thread saying you liked that show. ;)

I'm going to see the New Star Trek movie tomorrow

Wow!

I went to see Man of Steel last night and quite liked it. The opening scenes with Russell Crowe seemed to drag on far too long and the endless throwing-people-through-buildings fights bored me. However, I rather enjoyed the rest and thought Henry Cavill gave a decent performance. 7/10 from me.

Agree. 6/10 from me.

Looking forward to Godzilla. Mostly because Bryan Cranston's in it, but also because I used to watch Destroy All Monsters relentlessly as a child.

Is Godzoki in it, or he staying at a home with a badly dubbed English film?
