The Eiffel Tower was only meant to be a temporary structure, the competition it won stipulated the structure should be easily dismantled.It was meant to be torn down after twenty years in 1909. But because it was used to house radio transmitters considered important for defence purposes the tower was saved.

Wasn't the London Eye just supposed to be for the millenium or something?

Yes, it seems a lot of iconic landmarks start as temporary structures, normally for some exhibition or celebration

Franklyn D Roosevelt would have fully recovered from Polio if he had not received a misdiagnosis from a Dr. As he was considered to old to have got Polio at the time the Dr advocated vigorous exercise, this made the condition worsen and was the last thing needed. If he had rested he would have recovered without spinal injury. Had he lived longer and been more in control of his health the post war settlement may have been a very different beast.

Yeah but used how? Written on the side of a rocket or incorporated into the naming of their equipment? Because I know you ain't telling me they used ancient spaceship blueprints!
