Gordon you appear to have a very wide taste in music as few people I know can fluctuate between Led Zepplin and Fun Boy Three.

I would be pleased to see your top ten all time favourite bands in order to work out your main tatses.

Top Ten (in no particualar order)

-Pearl Jam
-Byrds (mainly the country rock phase)
-Grateful Dead (mainly the country rock phase)
-Allman Brothers Band
-Led Zeppelin
-Rolling Stones
-Talking Heads
-Motörhead
-Rod Stewart (between 69 & 78)
-Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

You were asking about my top ten bands, Teddy. So, these are the bands whose records I'd take with me to spent the rest of my life on a deserted island. I'm a guitar lover and I have a soft spot for the country rock of the 60s and early 70s. And for the blues revival of the same period.

But as you pointed out my range of taste is much wider. I grew up in the 80s and stole my elder sister's cassettes (!). So, acts like Prince, A-Ha, Simple Minds and even a few of the so called new romantics are in my genes as well. I know for example a band like Spandau Ballet isn't exactly genius but I prefer it to the mainstream dance stuff of the 90s.

So, again: I'd take my top ten acts on a lonely island but if I can manage in my everyday life I'm listening to all sorts of music.
But I have a permanent allergy against talent show acts, so called R&B, boy bands...and hip hop.

PS: You could replace Motörhead with Bob Dylan or Cream but I tried to make my top ten look more diverse.

I'd take the Talking Heads off your hands but the rest is good but not my taste although Rod has punched a few tunes out that I don't mind humming to.

My favourite Rod Stewart song is "You Wear It Well". Don't ask me why but I'm always humming it in moments of silence.

The Killing of Georgie takes some humming and can often result in a numb top lip.
However given the subject matter is the slaughter of a young gay for no reason, I tend to hum past the pain barrier in homage to the concept.

That said the tune in question may go into my'Play only on Comb File' I would still get the numbing but there would be significant buzzing of the lips which is preferable to numbing and given the right tune can be almost sexual in its sensation!

Bee Gee's First Of May:

I know you're supposed to say 'White Rabbit' on March 1st but his Bee Gee one is new to me, I have to presume its a Swiss custom?

In Switzerland you either get drunk or you fight the capitalist fascist regime on 1st of May. But I'm a lazy bastard so I prefer listening to sentimental music.

I would drop the 'senti' and stick with mental when referring to those hairy clowns!

Good one.

There you go, 22 George Formby songs !
