You mean like the New Kids On The Block (and Take That) did for popular music of the 90s and early 00s?
But wouldn't you say the comedy landscape is slowly recovering in the way that it doesn't rely on that reality/mockumentary/cringe-approach anymore?
Of course this observation doesn't change the fact that The Office did have a big inpact on comedy.

It is, a more traditional form is again emerging. Mrs Brown, Miranda, Count Arthur Strong etc. Not all of which I see as progress, but at least it clears the board and allows comedy to move in new directions.
I would not agree with that hypothesis, no. From commissioners to critics, the outlook of comedy seems rather grim indeed.

Commissioners take quite a while to catch up with what viewers actually want, there is definitely, in my opinion, a move back towards the centre, in sitcom in particular. In times of recession people tend to want more mainstream less cynical entertainment. The success of Miranda shows that, as does Mrs Brown. I think we will see more of these as times get tougher, but only time will tell.
The Wright Way.
Not sure if this is strictly referring to British sitcoms, but there's always Anger Management with Charlie Sheen which is pretty hideous.
From the British sitcoms I've seen, I would say In with the Flynns.
Two Pints was bloody awful. Crude, trashy and devoid of wit. Neon-lit, frying pan in the face, obvious, forced "comedy." It may not be the worst but the it sticks in my memory because of the ill-deserved praise it received from morons.
Two Pints was one of very few shows that I physically couldn't watch. It didn't just bore me, it caused actual pain.

To be fair you should have started this thread two hours later.
The worst thing I've seen in the past ten years even has its own webpage.
You say that as if the BBC shouldn't provide information to the public about programmes they've paid for.

So what exactly do you like?
The Office and Outnumbered were both very good and original.

I didn't intend to imply that. That it was so self-evidently rubbish even from the summary on the webpage, it saved me typing the reasons.
