One series too far Page 2

I also see that they are going to continue Death in Paradise with Kris Marshall replacing Ben Miller. You just know that that is not going to turn out well.

Really don't understand why they're doing that. :(

Reginald Perrin. Much as I love the show, the Legacy series made without Leonard Rossiter in the early 1990s was an embarrassment.

Do attempts to reboot a series after many years count? If so the recent Yes, Prime Minister was one too far.

Mind you, I'd have said Red Dwarf should have stopped years ago, but, IMO, the last series was excellent in the main and sits well with the better early series.

OFAH for me. Damian was really f**king annoying. His personality was basically a shit Ali G impression

Minor quibble, but mid 1990s - 1996, to be precise.

The Wright Way.

Open All Hours Series 1-3 were superb but Series 4 I felt was very weak in comparison. But the performances from Ronnie Barker - in my opinion the greatest actor ever to live - make it still very watchable.

Coupling

Yes, Prime Minister. Both 80s and the 10s was shite.

YES! Only those last three specials though. The whole getting rich (the first time round) was the right way to end it. If they HAD to bring it back, I think a feature length made for TV film with Slater (Jim Broadbent) trying to rip off Del and Rodney's millions would have been a nice idea. Easier said than written.

While we are on OFAH, I don't think The Green Green Grass or Rock & Chips really worked from the start.

Coupling

+1. Last series was so bloody dire (in general) with Oliver. Should've ended right there at 3, although I can see why they went ahead with one more - would've been a bit abrupt. Blame it on Coyle, I suppose.

Woulda said Peep Show, but I still really like it and still is quality, although not as brilliant. Probably Black Books too, although I still enjoyed it all through. And Green Wing's another.

Obviously Red Dwarf etc. have been stretched way too much, goes without saying. Do still watch it, but the actors being old especially really shows and that does seem to affect their performance, dialogue delivery, etc.

Agreed on Coupling.

I did enjoy Series 4, but it felt a bit tacked on, and odd jumping to a new character. If it were to carry on, it should have stayed Jeff-less, or at least not have Oliver properly part of the main group.

Series 4 of Coupling did contain one of my favourite episodes - the pregnancy one. But agree, maybe could have not quite had so much Oliver.

Also I'll probably get slated for this buy My Hero had one too many series.
I know some will say 1 was too many but as a kid I enjoyed it and Ardal is always great to watch. James Dreyfuss not so much

Agreed on both counts. IMHO Coupling was lost without Jeff Murdock. While I had a wee bit of sympathy for the Oliver character when he first appeared that was it.

And the last series of My Hero was HORRID. I never even finished watching the final series, it was THAT BAD!
