What Dawkins actually does is to liken religious indoctrination, NOT religious education, to child abuse. Two very different things. Religious education he has no problem with, as quoted:
'What a child should be taught is that religion exists; that some people believe this and some people believe that'.
Religious indoctrination is something altogether different.
