General Chris Morris Thread Page 5

It's also bollocks.

Blue Jam was not Brass Eye was not Barley.

That's at least three tricks.

I thought that as well. I think he's shown he can do a lot more than broadcast journalism spoofs. The monologues on Blue Jam are some of my favourite comedy pieces.

Just read the rest of this thread as well. Christ, Nathan Barley doesn't half divide people. I've never seen it mentioned without an argument ensuing.

Listened to the Radio 4 profile about Morris. A bit odd that the last sentence of the piece is given to Michael Grade calling Morris a one trick pony!

I haven't listened to this but did it mention that 'Michael Grade is a C**t'?

Yeah, Grade pretended he didn't care, except for the legality of putting out a subliminal message.

Dunno. But you can ask the author about it here:

For those interested, today is Chris Morris's 50th birthday.

Happy birthnews

You and about two other viewers. Everybody else thought it was a bit shit.

please forgive me - I haven't read the whole of this thread but impulsively had to act on this post...

sorry but Barley was excellent. I lived just round the corner from brick lane for three years and had to put up with trendy nob jockeys like Barley et al every single day. barley is a very accurate depiction of the self-absorbed hipsters that have done their best to ruin the east end since the late 1990s.

maybe if you haven't had to endure the people barley rips the piss out of first-hand then you might not get the barley joke. if you have, you will. my advice is to spend a day walking round brick lane and drinking in the real nail gun then watch barley again.

best barley quote: "I'm a self- facilitating media node."

apologies for the vitriol but as roger mellie once said, "It really boils my piss, Tom."

Magnum Valentino, it's a cracking read.

I met Chris at BFI last night. :)

What is Morris up to these days? I see that he directed an episode of Veep in 2012, but not much news since. I'd love to see a new Morris vehicle, but it appears he's content to be behind the camera now.

Masterminded the Boston bombings. Four Lions was just a dry run.

He's also directed a couple of episodes of the second series. The first of which was broadcast last weekend.

I heard a rumour a couple of months back about a possible radio project involving him and Noel Fielding, but I don't know if there's any substance to it.

Edit:

Surprised this hasn't been picked up here yet. Richard Bacon interviewed Noel Feilding (maybe that's why it hasn't been picked up here yet) on his R5 show. Noel let slip about a radio project he's worked on with Chris Morris and Richard Ayoade. I remember this being mentioned in some Nathan Barley promo interview (I seem to remember it also featured Rich Fulcher at the time?) Feilding said something along the lines that they'd meet every Wednesday afternoon to work on a project, but they'd no idea what would happen with it, and if it'd ever be released.

It's at about 19 mins. Bacon presses Feilding for details and he seems reluctant to talk about it. Seems they've been working on it for five years, on and off. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b011y5yh/Wimbledon_Richard_Bacon_20_06_2011/
