I don't think you can have someone do Dr Who, who is already quite well known. Take Rowan Atkinson - people already know him as Rowan Atkinson, he couldn't really "be" Dr Who if you know what I mean. I think that's why all the previous ones (well, since the reboot, I'm not sure about before that) are people who haven't really made it into the mainstream consciousness.

Rowan Atkinson already played the Doctor in The Curse of Fatal Death and was superb. Didn't feel like I was watching Mr Blackbeaner taking the piss, but rather, the genuine Doctor. That's how good The Curse of Fatal Death was. Scripted by Moffat - his first and finest Who.

I very much doubt that one, but it is a common myth.

Myth?
The Mpemba effect. The Royal Society of Chemistry says its true ( they offered a £1000 prize for the best explanation ) and Aristotle was aware of it... But feel free to continue doubting, you doubting Thomas.

My tea was yummy.

Wiki says:

The Mpemba effect, named after Tanzanian student Erasto Mpemba, is the assertion that warmer water can freeze faster than colder water. Although there is anecdotal support for the effect, there is no agreement on exactly what the effect is and under what circumstances it occurs. There have been reports of similar phenomena since ancient times, although with insufficient detail for the claims to be replicated.
The phenomenon seems contrary to thermodynamics, but a number of possible explanations for the effect have been proposed. Further investigations will need to decide on a precise definition of "freezing" and control a vast number of starting parameters in order to confirm or explain the effect.

Ok, so not something that happens all the time, it's just been reported to happen occasionally, but it's not easily reproducible. I guess the impurities in the water are going to have an effect.
