Eighties Draper (Mad Men, 1980s style) Page 3

Is Mad Men worth watching? I've had a few non-retards recommend it highly. I watched all of Oz (grim prison series) and enjoyed most of it. Watched the first three years of Six Feet Under and got bored. Watched five out of six seasons of The Sopranos and realized that Meadow Soprano was never going to do a nude scene. Watched one episode of Weeds and thought what a load of crap (but a nice theme song). Have all of Breaking Bad and the first season of Mad Men on DVD but no urge to sit the through the new style of telly drama that focuses on people's inner demons and motivation/mood-swings - especially if Mad Men shows this through heavy drinking, chain-smoking and womanizing (I would prefer something different to real life). Does it have any laughs? Does it show people enjoying their work and being cleverly creative? Or is it all moody and dark stuff? Any chance of getting James Cotter to appear in Eighties Draper? I would watch anything that Cotter's in.

From what you've said I suspect you won't enjoy Mad Men at all. It's slow-burning, moody, largely devoid of laughs (though it does have some absolute crackers dotted in there involving out of control tractors and the like), and worst of all it involves absolutely zero James Cotter.

I just found this whilst searching for places to promote my blog. I haven't the stomach to read the whole thing, but I love knowing we live in a world where people are writing Mad Men/Only Fools and Horses crossover fanfic...

The first series was a corker. And some good stuff here and there onwards.

Don't get me wrong, I love this show, but if you're looking to avoid a programma about tortured people wrestling with their inner demons then you might want to steer clear of Don Draper.
