It Ain't Half Hot Mum Page 2
Could be a show for me. I like the military theme...and I liked everything co-written by Croft so far Dad's Army, AYBS? (the first three or four series the rest was shite), 'Allo 'Allo!.
Just watched the last ever show again. Wonderful, only Perry and Croft could end a series so poignantly without descending into schmaltz.

Bit like the end of Hi De Hi then . . .
Why can they show Bernard Bresslaw browned up in Follow That Camel but not this?
Watched two episodes so far and liked it. Didn't know Mike from the Nags Head is one of the cast.
Did you notice the tall young dopey one?
He played a tall young dopey policeman in a couple of eps of OFAH.
Died quite young in real life too I recall.
Quote: Jack Massey @ January 29 2007, 9:14 PM GMTHas anyone seen It Aint Half Hot Mum. I've been watching it all weekend, I find it hilarious. For some reason it's seen as being politically incorrect now, but I can't see why. Michael Bates is blacked up to play an Indian Bearer. Bates was born in India and actually spoke Urdu before he spoke English.
It's not the only reason for it to be blackballed though. Or mothballed. Anything colonial struggles to be shown now, and the third reason it won't be seen again on TV - there wasn't a single woman in it despite it having a large cast and running for several years. That wouldn't go down well today regardless of the subject dictating it! So it's very off limits.
I just find it hard to believe how Croft & Perry were so productive, as they had this and two or three other major sitcoms running at the same time for quite a while.

Was it really him? I recognised his voice and thought "Hmm, sounds like 'Hoskins'...but doesn't look like him".
Yup!
It's Hoskins
I didn't remember him looking that tall in OFAH...but standing next to Slater/Broadbent no one does. Or standing next to Del Boy/Jason everyone does.
What a moustache can do...
It was heavily based on a farce by Peter Nichols, Privates on Parade.

Alfred, you should watch repeats of Porridge, it's rather good.

We could see Fletch's daughter Ingrid's nipples through her bra once...so the comparison isn't fair.
